SocialScope

Connect your social accounts to the apps you choose

SocialScope links your YouTube, TikTok and Instagram accounts to partner apps with read-only access. The app you choose can see your profile, your posts and their view, like and comment counts. It can't post, edit or delete anything.

  • YouTube
  • TikTok
  • Instagram

You don't sign up for SocialScope. You'll meet it when a partner app asks you to connect an account, and you approve each connection yourself.

How connecting works

Every connection starts in a partner app and is approved by you on the platform's own page.

  1. Start in a partner appThe app asks you to connect an account and sends you to SocialScope, which tells you what the app will be able to read.
  2. Approve on the platformYouTube, TikTok or Instagram shows its own permission page under the name SocialScope. You pick the account, and you can say no.
  3. Back in the appYou return to the partner app. Your posts and their counts appear there once SocialScope has read them.

What a partner app can see

Access is read-only, and it goes only to the app you connected.

Counts are a snapshot from the last time SocialScope read your posts, shown with that time. They aren't live totals, and a count a platform doesn't share is never shown as zero.

A partner app can read

  • Your profile: name, handle and picture
  • Your public posts: title or caption, link, thumbnail and publish date
  • View, like, comment and share counts, where the platform shares them

It can't

  • Post, edit or delete anything
  • Read your private messages
  • See your password
  • See accounts you connected to a different app

Only the app you chose gets your data. Connecting the same account to another app is a separate approval in that app.

We don't sell your data or use it for advertising. Read the privacy policy

Platform by platform

Each platform decides what it shares with apps. SocialScope asks for read access only.

YouTube

Any YouTube channel

  • Channel name, handle, picture and description
  • Your public videos, with title, link, thumbnail and publish date
  • View, like and comment counts

Uses YouTube API Services. By connecting, you agree to the YouTube Terms of Service. Google's handling of your data is covered by the Google Privacy Policy.

TikTok

Any TikTok account

  • Display name and profile picture
  • Your public videos, with caption, link, thumbnail and publish date
  • View, like, comment and share counts

You can remove SocialScope at any time in TikTok's app permissions settings.

Instagram

Business or Creator accounts

  • Username, name and profile picture
  • Your posts and reels, with caption, link, thumbnail and publish date
  • Like, comment, view and share counts

Instagram only shares posts with apps from professional accounts. A personal account can switch to one in Instagram's settings.

Sandbox mode and Live mode

Each platform reviews SocialScope's app before any creator can connect through it. Until then, partner apps build and test in Sandbox mode.

Sandbox mode

Available now

YouTube, TikTok and Instagram run SocialScope's apps in testing mode, so only accounts added as testers can connect. Partner apps use it to build and try their integration.

Sandbox runs on socialscope-dev.hardscope.com.

Live mode

Coming soon

Any creator will be able to connect once YouTube, TikTok and Instagram have approved SocialScope's apps.

Live runs on socialscope.hardscope.com.

You stay in control

Stop sharing whenever you like. SocialScope then deletes what it stored for that account, on the timing each route below gives.

Disconnect in the app

Disconnect the account in the partner app. That app stops receiving your data straight away, and SocialScope deletes what it stored for that connection within about 7 days.

Remove SocialScope at the platform

The platform lists SocialScope, not the partner app. Removing it there ends every connection you made through SocialScope for that account.

TikTok and Instagram tell us, and SocialScope erases what it stored within about 7 days. Google doesn't, so the connection stops at our next read and what we stored is removed within 30 days of our last read.

Ask us to delete it

Email legal@hardscope.com and we'll delete your data within about 7 days of confirming the request.

How deletion works

Building a partner app?

Partner apps connect creators through SocialScope's hosted page and read their data from one server-side GraphQL API. Apps are set up by the SocialScope team at HardScope.
