Delete your SocialScope data
Last updated: [publication date]
There are three ways to stop sharing and have SocialScope delete your data. Disconnecting in the partner app, removing SocialScope at TikTok or Instagram, or asking us by email each end with us erasing what we stored for the account within about 7 days. Removing SocialScope at Google stops the connection at our next read, and what we stored is removed within 30 days of our last read.
1. Disconnect in the partner app
This is the quickest way. Open the partner app you connected, find your connected accounts and choose Disconnect.
- The app stops receiving data from that account straight away, and the data is hidden.
- We ask YouTube or TikTok to remove SocialScope's access. Once the platform confirms, and no later than about 7 days after you disconnect, we erase the posts, counts, profile details and tokens we stored for that connection.
- Instagram doesn't let apps remove their own access. The app will ask you to remove SocialScope in Instagram's settings as well, as described below.
For YouTube and TikTok, disconnecting also pauses that account in other apps that use SocialScope, and they may ask you to reconnect it.
2. Remove SocialScope at the platform
Your platform lists SocialScope, not the partner app. Removing it there ends every connection you made through SocialScope for that account, in every partner app.
YouTube (your Google account)
- Go to your Google Account permissions page.
- Choose SocialScope.
- Remove its access.
Google doesn't tell us when you do this. The connection stops the next time we try to read your channel, and what we stored is removed within 30 days of our last read. To have it erased within about 7 days instead, also disconnect in the partner app or email us.
TikTok
- In the TikTok app, open Settings and privacy.
- Go to Security and permissions, then Apps and services permissions.
- Choose SocialScope and remove access.
TikTok tells us when you do this, and we erase your data within about 7 days.
Legal review: Verify TikTok's current menu labels before publishing.- In Instagram, open Settings and activity.
- Go to Website permissions, then Apps and websites.
- Choose SocialScope and remove it.
Instagram tells us when you do this, and we erase your data within about 7 days. If you also ask Instagram to delete your data, Instagram gives you a confirmation code and a link to check the request. See Check a request.
Legal review: Verify Instagram's current menu labels before publishing.3. Ask us by email
Email legal@hardscope.com with the platform and your account handle, for example "YouTube, @riveracreative". We'll confirm the account is yours, then erase its data within about 7 days and reply when it's done.
What we delete, and what stays
| Data | What happens |
|---|---|
| Access tokens | Erased. We also ask YouTube or TikTok to cancel them. |
| Profile details | Erased. |
| Posts and counts | Erased. |
| The connection itself | Ended. The partner app sees the account as disconnected. |
| Activity records | Removed after 30 days. |
| Copies in partner apps | Not in our control. Ask the partner app to delete data it already received. |
We don't keep restorable backups of this data, so erased data can't come back.
Check a deletion request
If Instagram gave you a SocialScope confirmation code, enter it to see where your request is. Codes work for 30 days.
Enter it exactly as Instagram showed it. The status opens on connect.socialscope.hardscope.com.
